Support for the Executive Director and the Organization
Engage partners with socially responsible leaders and companies to help nonprofits improve the performance of their executive director and staff, strengthen and expand their board, and find new donors. Here's how we do it:
Executive Development Executive Directors, like all leaders, need development opportunities to improve their performance, stay motivated and to learn new best practices. When a nonprofit is sponsored their Executive Director and/or development officers receive access to high-level classroom learning and executive coaching in areas such as presentation skills, consultative selling and coaching and mentoring at no cost. But it's not just about learning. Our classes are also a unique opportunity for Executive Directors and others to meet, share ideas, discuss possible partnerships, or simply to know someone new who they can have a cup of coffee with and talk. The classes have also produced new board and committee members.
Professional Development In order to attract and retain talented people who can help a nonprofit organization grow, an Executive Director needs to develop their staff. Development and fundraising staff need to enhance their selling and presentation skills. New managers need to know how to coach and mentor employees. Our pay-what-you-can model gives nonprofit professionals and board members access to high-level professional development at a price they can afford. Not only will they develop stronger habits and new skills in the classes, but, because our classes bring together business and nonprofit professionals, they will meet other nonprofit professionals, and meet emerging business leaders who are potential donors, board or committee members, or volunteers.
Classes we offer:
Consulting When a nonprofit is sponsored, they can receive help with fundraising strategy or have Engage facilitate a session that helps identify new ideas and potential fundraising events. Sometimes though, all a nonprofit leader wants is a cup of coffee with someone who can offer advice and ideas. An excerpt from a Boston Globe article about Engage shows how we help:
"Through Natixis, 12 development staff and managers at The Home for Little Wanderers have received Campbell's coaching in the past two years, said Scott Inman, senior corporate relations managers at the Boston-based child service agency, which has 600 employees. Through coaching from Campbell, Inman has learned how to build deep, long-term relations with potential donors, rather than simply asking for money.
Recently, Inman was preparing to meet with an executive for the first time to discuss a donation. Over coffee, Campbell coached Inman to learn how the executive might want to make a mark in the world, and ask how he could introduce The Home to others in his field. In a short meeting, 'we walked away with more than we'd ever expected,' said Inman. The executive is not only planning to donate but is offering key connections with other high-level business leaders."

Board Development We help board members improve their fundraising skills by helping them create and deliver a more strategic message about the nonprofit organization. This helps them become more comfortable when discussing the organizations mission and impact with colleagues, business associates, clients and anyone else who can potentially support the nonprofit.
